POSITION SUMMARY

The CEO will set the strategic vision for the profitable growth of the business’s two operating divisions and manage the day-to-day operations of the company by building and modeling a great company culture, providing inspirational leadership to our executive team, establishing a great working relationship with the board of directors, and setting a course for the company strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES & DUTIES

  • Develop and implement the Company’s strategic plan, including measurable goals. and set operational policies.
  • Provide inspired inspirational company-wide leadership.
  • Oversee the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing.
  • Report to the board of directors quarterly.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the company.
  • Work with the senior executive team to determine and promote values and mission, and plan for short and long-term goals.
  • Work closely with the Human Resources manager to recruit new staff and retain existing staff members.
  • Create an environment that promotes great performance and positive morale.
  • Assure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company.
  • Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the company.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a relevant discipline or MBA or relevant equivalent industry experience.

Other Experience or Training:

  • Five years of experience in a senior management position.
  • Knowledge of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management, and construction finance and budgeting.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong computer literacy, proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) or Google G Suite.

Other Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, in English are mandatory.
  • Communication skills in French, written and verbal, are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to set budgets and performance goals and execute business plans profitably.
  • Decisiveness with imperfect, partial information in a competitive bid environment.

The Opportunity

Asbex Ltd. is seeking experienced Painters in Ottawa, Ontario to join a team working on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary
  • Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint, etc.
  • Paint exterior wood windows and frames for commercial projects
  • Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g., plaster)
  • Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture
  • Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools
  • Apply varnish and other finishes

Qualifications

  • Minimum (1) years experience as a Painter
  • Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them
  • Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques
  • Experience in painting exterior wood windows and frames for commercial projects
  • Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns, etc.)
  • Conscientious with great attention to detail
  • Able to follow instructions and work independently as well as on a team
  • Knowledge of job site safety rules and regulations (Occupational Health and Safety)
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, highly organized
  • High school diploma; successful completion of an apprenticeship
  • Willingness to Travel
  • Must be able to obtain a PWGSC security clearance

PROJECT COORDINATOR for Ottawa

POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Coordinator assists in planning, scheduling, and organizing the activities of the Centre Block Rehabilitation Project, under the direct supervision and in collaboration with the Project Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

1. Responsibility: Delivery of Projects

    Duties include:

  • Monitor the progress onsite and in the restoration shop
  • Provide daily reports on the progress of the projects to the Project Manager and key staff
  • Arrange for the delivery and pick-up of various materials required
  • Perform photo documentation and create condition report surveys
  • Keep an organized file system to locate pictures and data
  • Attend site/shop meetings with the client
  • Prepare RFI’s and submittals.

2. Responsibility: Project Administrative Activities

    Duties include:

  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget under the direct supervision of the Project Manager.

3. Responsibility: Purchasing and Replenishment

    Duties include:

  • Inventory hardware/materials being used on the project
  • Source replacement materials
  • Forecast when materials will run out
  • Place purchase orders
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers/vendors.

4. Other responsibilities and duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Completion of a College Diploma or University Degree in Heritage Restoration or a related program.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong computer literacy, experience with Google, web applications, etc.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, with a focus on Excel.

Other Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, in English.
  • Ability to communicate in French is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and respects Health and Safety at the workplace.
  • Certifications in WHMIS 2015, MOL 4-step or 5-step, and Working at Heights training programs are a strong asset.
  • Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Works in an organized, methodical and effective manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to think on feet/problem solve.
  • Proactive and works well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able and willing to work flexible work hours, 8-hour shifts, primarily days.
  • Available for overtime, when required.

The Historical Wood Restoration Technician ensures workstations are clean and safe and supports all wood shop activities.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES & DUTIES

  • Repair and fabricate heritage wood windows and doors.
  • Assist in all wood shop duties.
  • Follow heritage restoration guidelines and procedures.
  • Other responsibilities and duties, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Completion of the Heritage Carpentry and Joinery Diploma or related program is an asset.

Other Experience or Training:

  • Experience in historic wood restoration is an asset.
  • Minimum (3) years’ experience within the heritage restoration or construction industries
  • Experience using woodshop machinery and tools.
  • Experience in using basic hand tools.
  • Experience reading and analyzing technical /construction drawings.
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation Health & Safety is a strong asset

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read technical drawings is an asset.

Other Qualifications:
